Heather and her boyfriend were locals in Hawaii. They were on their way home when they noticed a Pittie on the side of the road. The dog was in such bad shape so they took him to the nearest vet clinic.
Once they arrived at the clinic, a nurse helped them carry the pup inside. The vet then told the couple that the dog had multiple parasites, was malnourished, and was very weak.
The couple was saddened by the news but asked the vet if they could the pup home and give him the opportunity to live a good life before he gets put down. The vet agrees and gives them a couple of painkillers to alleviate the dog’s suffering.
Heather and her boyfriend named the dog Saint. Heather felt that the name Saint was perfect since the pup was very sweet despite his condition.
Saint didn’t have the energy to stand or even eat so Heather had to hand-fed him and carry him to go to the bathroom. Heather knew there wasn’t much she could do so she did her best to make Saint feel safe and comfortable.
Journey to recovery
Over the next few days, Heather noticed that Saint was gaining strength to get up and take a few steps and was able to eat on his own. Heather took it as a sign that there was hope for Saint to recover.
Saint began to wander around his foster mom’s house and even joined the other dogs to play. Heather and her boyfriend were ecstatic to see Saint finally act like a dog.
It took a few weeks before Saint fully recovered. Thanks to all the love and care of his foster parents, he blossomed into a playful yet gentle dog.
