Shelters become temporary homes for rescued and abandoned dogs. Quincy, a rescued Bulldog puppy, had an incubator as her first temporary home.
Road to recovery
Quincy was delivered by a cesarean section and born with a cleft palate. She was unable to nurse on her mom, so a volunteer from NorCal Bully Breed Rescue picked her up hours after she was born.
At the shelter, the volunteer immediately put Quincy inside of an incubator to help her get healthy. The puppy weighed about seven pounds and looked like a hamster.
Quincy often fell asleep with her whole body squished against the glass. Everyone at the shelter found her so cute, so they took pictures of the pup sleeping.
After a week and a half, the volunteers at the shelter noticed that Quincy was eating and sleeping well. She was progressing, so everyone was expecting a quick recovery.
Sometimes puppies inside the incubator develop a little quicker. The volunteers noticed that on day twenty, Quincy already had both of her eyes open.
After a month of incubation, Quincy was finally ready to live outside her box. As soon as a volunteer put her on the floor, she ran all around the room.
Road to forever home
Quincy loved being around other dogs. She liked to crouch down and run up and jump on other dogs as her way of playing with them.
When Quincy was about two and a half months old, she broke her leg. She had to have a splint put on her leg, but she had no problem getting around with the cast.
After a full month, her leg was completely healed. The vet couldn’t believe that there was no trace of the break.
The shelter decided that Quincy was ready to be adopted. It was no surprise that a lot of people applied to adopt her, so the rescuers set up a meet in greet in San Francisco.
Alexander and Lindsey were a couple that was following NorCal Breed Rescue. They had a bulldog that recently passed away, so when they saw the news of Quincy’s meet and greet, they agreed to attend to cheer themselves up.
The couple didn’t plan on adopting Quincy or any dog at all. But when they saw the pup, they instantly fell in love.
Alexander and Lindsey’s application stood out the most. They were selected to be Quincy’s new parents. After that adoption was made official, thy took the pup home intending to give her a good life.
