Workers of a small convenience store in Serbia were about to start the day’s operation when they noticed a black dog underneath a car. They checked to see what the matter was and discovered she wasn’t alone. Huddled with her were six adorable newborn puppies.
The furry family caused no nuisance in the area so workers let them be. They even gave the mama dog some food because they knew she needed to eat to be able to produce milk for her babies. But once it started raining, everyone agreed they had to do something for them.
The crew started to search for groups or individuals that could help rescue the dogs. They didn’t think it would be done within the day but surprisingly, they were able to contact Milan Stojanovic, the lead rescuer of the group called Dog Rescue Shelter in Mladenovac, Belgrade.
Milan didn’t think twice and instantly agreed to help. He asked for the exact address where the dogs were, and once he had it, he wasted no second. He rushed onsite to save the mama dog and the puppies.
While waiting for the rescuer to arrive, the workers grabbed a carton box from the back of the store and took it outside. They placed it beside the mama dog, and they watched her as she transferred her babies one by one inside the box. She knew that while it wasn’t enough, it would help keep her babies dry.
Soon, Milan made it onsite. He thanked the workers for their kindness and started to do his work. He befriended the mama dog by offering her some tasty treats, and she was so hungry that she ate straight from his hand. But when she heard some noise not too far away, she panicked and walked away.
The rescuer took the opportunity and gently grabbed the little puppies. He placed them in a portable crate while their mama watched a few inches away. And the moment the little ones were safe, he continued to gain the trust of the mama dog he eventually named Jaza.
Milan took Jaza and her babies straight to the shelter and reunited them as soon as they arrived. He knew she was sick-worried about them, and once they were back together, she felt relieved. She was so happy that she and her family are safe.
