The Strange Noise:
There it was, that strange, even creepy sound that was coming from the deck, and, we thought maybe we heard a bear out on our deck.
My brother had some bears hanging around his place and had to shoot at them to get them to leave.
Being a wanderer, Trip was always taking off for days at a time. We never knew where he went or how long he would be gone. Our Black Pitt bull and black Lab cross with white on his feet chest and tail and was adventuresome and loved to take off for days. We live out of town, so we weren’t worried about him, besides, tying him up didn’t seem to work.
One day he just disappeared and we had no idea where he was. This dog would be gone for days, but this time I was worried that he wasn’t ever coming back.
We lived in a two-story house with a very steep set of stairs leading up to the surrounding deck. Dinner was almost done and then all of a sudden we could hear this weird sound outside. It seemed to be coming from the front door.
We all went outside and there was our dog, laying on the porch unable to move. He had dragged himself to the top of the deck in front of the door.
Our Trip Was Hurt:
His back had chunks of hair and meat gone. At first, we thought he’d been hit by a car but there were bite marks in his side. Trips breath was short, labored and he just lay there gasping heavily.
I started to cry, thinking this was the end of him, but my husband assured me that dogs were tough. He and my and son put Trip on a blanket and carried him into the living room, we cleaned him up, put water by him, and finally, we all went to bed.
In the middle of the night I heard a noise, he had dragged himself into our bedroom and was laying next to me. I reached down and touched him and he seemed to relax and went to sleep. Every morning I was afraid that he wouldn’t be alive but, he was a survivor.
The kids slept downstairs, otherwise, he would have gone to Kaygans room as he belonged to her. Not eating or drinking Trip never moved from the spot beside my bed.
He slept so hard for 8 days straight and then one day he was acting better. That was the beginning of his recovery and he continued to get better by each day.
He was finally able to walk again, although he staggered and lost his balance easily. He continued to get better daily, became much stronger, and was becoming his old self. Trip loved it outside and spent a lot of time laying on the porch.
He Sounded Like The Walking Dead:
One night we were watching tv and we heard this weird noise out on the deck. At first, we thought maybe it was a bear, but Trip wasn’t barking, so we stepped outside to see.
To our surprise, it was our dog, it was from his mystery injury and it had messed up his vocal cords. When he tried to bark the strange sound came out, much like the sounds that the walking dead make.
