Sadie, a German Shepherd, has one of the strongest wills to live that Dogwood Animal Rescue has ever seen. She was shot and dumped in a trash bag, with her legs broken.
Most canines would have given up, but Sadie fought. When some kind humans came to help, Sadie wagged her tail and showered them with affection.
Sadie is now at the vet clinic, receiving much-needed medical attention. She is a cheerful puppy during the entire procedure, and nothing seems to break her fighting spirit.
At a Tulare County grove in California, a field worker saw something strange. When he saw a trash bag moving in the grass, he went to investigate. He soon noticed a dog inside, and as soon as she was released, the pup crept for the shade. The dog’s back legs appeared to be fractured, and she had at least two bullet wounds.
Robin Reed Galvan, who lives nearby and is devoted to rescuing dogs, came to help. The volunteers gave the dog food and water before contacting Tulare County Animal Services to arrange for the canine’s pick-up. The Santa Rosa-based Dogwood Animal Rescue immediately offered to take her in.
The rescue has called her Sadie, and they have been updating their Facebook page with regular updates on her progress. According to the vet, Sadie had three broken legs due to gunshot wounds to the shoulder and leg. As a result, she is scheduled to undergo an operation.
Veterinarians will most likely only be able to do one leg every session to keep her under sedation for as short a time as possible. Her recovery would take 10 to 12 weeks as well.
According to Galvan, this incident serves as an excellent lesson to always be aware of your surroundings. Sadie would not have survived if no one had noticed the moving trash bag. So, keep an eye out for animals in need, and you may be able to rescue a life.
