Dogs are spectacular animals – they aid humans in various situations. Many tales prove dogs’ fierce loyalty and dedication. Sometimes, even if they have a disability, they can still selflessly give their service to humans. One dog, despite of his hearing and visual impairment, helped authorities locate a missing girl.
It all started one Friday night. While her parents and grandparents cleaned up after dinner, three-year-old Aurora wandered off their family property. Since they lived near the woods, she lost her way and went missing. As the family panicked, their seventeen-year-old Australian Cattle dog named Max followed her into the woods without anyone knowing.
Still, they could not find Aurora. By Saturday morning, her family, along with a hundred police officers, emergency workers, and neighbors searched the premises for clues as to where Aurora wandered off. By now, the little girl’s missing for more than eight hours.
Then they heard some shouting. Aurora’s grandmother, Leisa, heard it first. They followed the voice and finally saw the dog, Max. Leisa wondered why Max is also out in the woods. There she realized that their pet followed Aurora last night. Although the senior dog is mostly blind and deaf, he led the rescuers straight to the missing girl.
The rescuers finally found the Aurora. The search party all breathed a sigh of relief when they realized the little girl is alive and well. According to one of the emergency workers Ian Phipps, they worried more about Aurora’s whereabouts because of the weather- it was cold and raining.
Everyone’s happy with the outcome of the search. Still, the rescuers could not believe they found Aurora utterly unscathed from the incident. Some say the family owed it to their dog Max for accompanying Aurora through the scary night in the woods. All thanks to the deaf and blind senior dog, the little girl is now safe and sound.
