Baby, It’s Cold Outside! Trip Taking care of business:
We got Trip when he was a small puppy. He was black with white on his chest and feet. His neck had a circle of white and his tail looked like the tip had been dipped in white paint.
He was not house-broke when we got him, so we had to train him to take care of business outside.
In the potty training stage, we would have to make sure that we took him out regularly so that he learned to take care of business outside, That was mine and my daughter’s chore, my husband rarely did that.
One day, however, my daughter and I were going to be gone overnight and we instructed my husband of the potty training ritual. Wanting to make sure there was no backsliding in our training, we instructed that Trip needed to go out often, especially before bedtime. He had been learning quickly, so we left that day thinking all was well.
Everything was fine, my husband had let the puppy out a few times and then he’d gone to bed. In the early morning, the puppy began to cry to go out.
Trapped In The Cold:
My husband jumped out of bed, stepped to the door, and let Trip out. The puppy was accustomed to going out with someone, consequently. he just sat on the step looking back at my husband. Eventually, my husband stepped outside barefooted and naked, shut the door, and waited for Trip to go potty. The puppy promptly went out, went to the bathroom, and came back to perch on my husband’s feet as if to say”ok now what?”.
Locked out! When my husband went to step back in the house, he realized the door was pulled shut. He went around to each window, tried them, but they were all locked down and the other doo too, but they were all locked. Expecting us back early that morning, he thought of waiting in the car till we got home. however, and just sitting in the cold car, well he and Trip would freeze.
Breaking And Entering Are Ok This Time:
“No keys! Now, what do I do? This puppy and I will freeze to death before my wife gets home”. My husband said to himself. He thought about walking to the neighbors, but he was butt- naked, it was well below zero.so that wasn’t an option!. He finally broke the window in the front door and was able to get back in. When we got home and saw the cardboard taped up on the door window we asked what had happened. He said that he would never watch the puppy again that it had been a nightmare. However, he was sitting on the couch all cuddled up with Trip on his lap!
