Like most stray animals, Colo Colo was largely ignored by the people around him.
He usually roams around the streets looking for food, and occasionally, some people would say hi, or even offer him some scraps. But this did not happen regularly.
The depressing truth is that most people would not even acknowledge his presence. Sometimes, some heartless persons would even chase him away or throw something at him.
And when he got injured, the situation got even worse.
Colo Colo became a victim of a big fire in the neighborhood where he usually stays. The homeless dog survived, but he suffered many injuries. His entire back was burned, and for several days, the dog was in pain and couldn’t even move.
While people tried to clean up the burnt mess, the dog was on the side, trying to recuperate. Because he was a stray, nobody took notice of him. Most of the people deliberately ignored him.
For the next ten days, the dog languished and his health deteriorated fast. His wounds were exposed and were showing signs of infection. This made the people avoid him more. Without a doubt, Colo Colo was on the track to losing his life.
Thankfully though, a group of animal welfare advocates saw him and immediately took the poor pooch to a clinic. Vets cleaned up his wounds and evaluated his injuries. At that point, they were so severe due to neglect and their only solution was to remove the burnt and infected skin.
Every day, for the next five months, Colo Colo received medical treatment. It was a struggle for both the dog and the medical staff, but he showed signs of progress. The kind people never stopped caring for him.
When his story was posted online, a lot of people started helping out as well. Some sent money while others gave medical supplies for him. And after almost half a year, Colo Colo had recuperated enough to become a viable candidate for adoption.
The poor dog has gone through much in his life. But eventually, he met a lot of kind people when he needed them the most. Hopefully, he would also meet the perfect family for him.
